MUSIC THAT COOKS

I know, I know – you’re asking yourself, “What does music have to do with food?”

When you’ve got some down time and you’re doing what you love to do, most of you do that something with great music accompanying your every move. For me, listening to music helps me relax and inspires creativity, providing ideal conditions for slicing and dicing.

Music that Cooks is a list of compilations that I love to listen to while I’m preparing or eating, or even cleaning up, food. My hope is that you will discover a few gems amongst those listed below that you can add to your own list of favorites.

John Legend - Get Lifted

This R&B album is rich and diverse. From one song to the next, you'll never know what you're going to hear, but you're always going to be pleasantly surprised. Includes appearances by Lauryn Hill, Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, and Miri Ben-Ari.

Van Morrison - Moodance

I used to despise this music, mainly because I hadn't really given it a chance and just assumed that it all sounded the same (just like "Brown-Eyed Girl"). Now that I've really listened to it, I love it. I'm sure maturing tastes has played its part as well, but regardless, perfect music for cracking open a bottle of red and putting a leisurely meal together.

Tony Bennett - Duets

I'm really starting to love this guy. I know I've had an entire lifetime to appreciate him, but I'm just getting there now. His latest album, Duets, certainly isn't hurting the cause either. This compilation is a collection of jazz favorites, each performed by Tony and one of a number of music giants from various music genres. A very easy listen, whether you're a Bennett die-hard or brand new to jazz music.
